Vigevano
Capital of Lomellina, Vigevano boasts ancient origins and a highly respectable Renaissance past. Its Piazza Ducale is considered one of the most beautiful Italian squares and its castle, one of the largest fortified complexes. Inside the castle there is the Footwear Museum, in memory of the ancient Vigevano tradition; it is unique and absolutely worth visiting.
From the Tower, you can enjoy a breathtaking view that ranges from the Alps to the City Life of Milan.
If you then want to dedicate an entire day to Vigevano, you can also visit the Mora Bassa Mill with the guide. A couple of kilometers from the city centre, the meeting place of Ludovico il Moro and Cecilia Gallerani, his lover, today houses the Museum of Leonardo da Vinci’s Machines, faithful and scale reproductions of many of his projects, in memory and as evidence of his presence in Vigevano, around the year 1492.
