Oltrepò Pavese. Varzi and Sant’Alberto di Butrio
Once past the Po, you can already glimpse the Apennines with its wonderful castles. The places of artistic interest are: the beautiful village of Varzi, a town of very ancient origins, located along the Via del Sale and considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy and the Hermitage of Sant’Alberto di Butrio, whose history is very ancient and legendary, where you can admire the wonderful frescoes from the 1400s and a fascinating Romanesque cloister. Ruled by monks, it is an interesting place both from a historical-artistic point of view and for its particular geographical position. Isolated from the world and far from the noise, surrounded by chestnut and oak trees, your view will range over the entire Po Valley.
Upon request, we can visit an excellent salami factory in Varzi: Varzi is in fact famous for its DOP salami.
If the season permits, we can also visit the lavender fields in bloom.
